Have a new 160GB HD, replace of a 120gb, conected at the High Point 370
controller on the KG7 mainboard. The HPT tell me that have a disk of 134217
M, and winXP SP3 see as 128GB.
For the HD manufacturer (Hitachi) the disc should be recognised of 160GB if
XP has SP3, but is not in my case.
With IBM OS/2 warp the HD is see as 152 GB.
Mainboard bios version is: 761-686B-6A6SA1AC-5W 10/22/2001, the HPT 370 bios
version is: 1.11.0402.

Any idea ?

134217x1024= 137GB, The limit of your old HPT bios.

That's probably because Win uses the bios for it's info.

Find a newer bios that has the upgraded HPT upgraded bios in it. Sorry, I
don't have one. Good luck with that.

And, probably, is why IBM OS/2 see the HD as its full capacity.

Just flashed KG7 bios with V. DS that enable HPT controller to read disk
over 136GB (I found the new bios, simply, on Abit web page), and now HPT see
a 160GB drive, but WinXP SP3 still see it as a 128GB !?!?

I don't use Windows. If you fdisked it under windows originally it may
have only created a 128GB partition, and until you expand it, that's all
it will show iirc.

Latest news :-), connected HD on secondary ide as slave, started with WinXP
and now have a new disk of 149,05GB, much better than the 128GB.
Cant understand why when connected to HPT controller, also with new bios, is
still see as 128GB.
