I have an old BE6 board that I want set up for the kids to mess around
on. The trouble is that it's so slow. I want to put two 512mb sticks
in it, but the manual says that 256 is the maximum. I have flashed the
bios which will let me put an 800 Celeron in it to replace the 400, but
I can't see any information in the bios upgrade history pertaining to
memory. So...my question is, if I go ahead and buy the 512 sticks and
it ends up that the memory maximum wasn't increased like the cpu was,
will the system just reject the memory from the start, or will it just
load the 256 limit?
I appreciate any feedback to this question.
